PARRY SOUND - The Rotary Club of Parry Sound held its Annual Foundation Dinner on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at the legion.
Rotarians and guests bought tickets for a roast beef dinner cooked by Rotarian Bob Bradey along with the help of family and friends.
The profits from the dinner were donated to the Rotary Foundation. Each year the club awards Paul Harris Fellows to non-Rotarian agencies and individuals in recognition of their contributions to improving the quality of life for the Parry Sound community.  The club does this by donating $1,000 in the name of the recipient to the Rotary Foundation to enable it to continue its Humanitarian work in Parry Sound and around the world.
This year the club honoured the Festival of the Sound for the exceptional contributions it has made to the community over the last 30 years.  Executive director Margaret Boyd received the award on behalf of the organization. Also recognized was Jim McCoubrey. Born in Parry Sound, Jim has been a dedicated volunteer his whole life, spending many hours tirelessly fundraising for and organizing events. It’s a pleasure for the Rotary Club of Parry Sound to be able to acknowledge the dedication of these worthwhile recipients.
Along with the non-Rotarian awards, Mary Daleman, wife of long time Rotarian Peter Daleman was also recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow.
The club was also happy to induct John Anderson, owner of the local Sobeys store, into membership.
The Rotary Club meets every Tuesday 11:50 a.m. at the legion on Mary Street.
