Library friends host weekly luncheons

MacTier News

The MacTier Figure Skating Club held a very successful fundraising dance and hockey game last Saturday, Jan. 30. They would like to thank all in attendance and also the sponsors who assisted in the evening.
On the same day, at the MacTier Curling Club, held its annual northern mixed bonspiel.
Eight teams participated and the overall winner was the rink skipped by Gary Patenaude.
His team was made up of Jaff Roberge, Justin Boyd, and Brad Cribbie. The next bonspiel coming up is the third annual family bonspiel on February 12 and 13. Again, eight teams will participate.
Theme bonspiel
This also is the night the 2010 Olympics begin, so the theme of this two-day bonspiel is our own “Olympics” at the club. It should be fun. The MacTier Public Library will be presenting a children’s Valentine program for ages 4 to 10 years old.
This will take place on Saturday, Feb. 13, from 11 a.m. to noon. There will be stories, games, songs and crafts for the children.
Development committee meeting
Fifty or more residents attended the town meeting session, put on by the new Mactier Development Committee.
This was on Thursday, Jan. 28 at the arena hall.
Also in attendance were members of Township of Georgian Bay council and staff.
This meeting was based on a proposed recreation master plan for Mactier. Lots of ideas were presented and tossed about and another future meeting will be arranged again sometime down the road.
In the Muskoka-Parry Sound area, have we done something wrong this winter? We have had large snowstorms dumped on us almost twice now. We lost some snow, and then received that and more back.
We can’t complain of no snow for this winter. Enjoy the winter activities and scenery.
The Mactier Friends of the Library weekly Saturday luncheons at the Lions Medical Centre hall have been very successful to date.
Over 60 took in the luncheon on January 30, which is good attendance for our area. Other dates of the luncheons are February 6, 13, and 20. They start at 11 a.m. and go to 2 p.m.
