PARRY SOUND – The Georgian Bay Biosphere presents a mix of beer and laughter with Brew-Ha-Ha on Saturday, Oct. 20. This night of craft beer tasting, comedy and musical entertainment will be held at the Parry Sound Golf and Country Club as a fundraiser for the Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve.

The Brew-Ha-Ha will offer guests samples of several unique beers produced by Ontario craft breweries, with a light dinner included. Participating breweries include Muskoka Brewery, Lake of Bays, Highlander, Nickel Brook and Steamwhistle. Each guest will have the opportunity to taste each beer available from these brewers, meet staff, and learn about the process of brewing their favourite flavours.
The night will feature entertainment from Parry Sound-born comedian Steven Morel and musical performances by Big Bad Wolf jazz and blues, with musical intermission provided by Mackenzie Richie and Craig Harley. The silent auction will feature pottery, beer glasses and mugs, art and photography as well as other prizes such as ecotourism adventures and spa/massage packages. Tickets for the event are $45 and include the beer tasting, entertainment and food prepared by Fairways restaurant at the Parry Sound Golf and Country Club.
All proceeds raised will support Biosphere education, conservation and community programs. The Lessons in a Backpack program creates opportunities for local teachers and students to explore nature in their own backyards. The State of the Bay report will provide a snapshot of the health of eastern Georgian Bay based on wetland, water quality, and indicators such as forest health. The Life on the Bay Stewardship Program is a free program designed to help home and cottage owners interested in decreasing their ecological footprint through simple changes. The Species at Risk program maintains a database of endangered or threatened species, informs people about habitats within the biosphere, and what they can do to help.

About Steven Morel
Steven Morel is an award-winning comedian, born and raised in Parry Sound.
Morel has been nominated twice for comedy awards for his direction. Once for The Second City and also for the fringe version of The Drowsy Chaperone which went on to become the longest running Canadian-made musical on Broadway. Selected theatre credits include playing the Groom for the Drowsy in a Theatre Passe Muraille production; Sparky in Forever Plaid at the New Yorker; and Nathan Detroit in Guys and Dolls in the Jane Mallett theatre.
Morel can currently be seen on TV on the Family Channel’s hit show Wingin’ It, now in its third season. Morel’s Canadian cocktails show off his musical sophistication. The "cocktails" are a musical concoction of famous Canadiana singers, singing other singer’s songs.

Lake of Bays – Located in Lake of Bays, they have three styles of beer. They have a seasonal mocha porter that has a chocolaty flavour. They also have a Rousse – Red Ale which is darker than their main pale ale with a Quebecois style.
Highlander – Located in South River, offers a Scottish Pale Ale, a toasted malt and a medium bodied ale with coffee and dark chocolate notes.
