Probation for break-and-enter at concession stand

A St. Catharines-area man has been put on probation after participating in a break-in at Gull Lake Rotary Park in Gravenhurst.
Michael Sklepowich, 19, was arrested on July 24 with a 15-year-old accomplice after police received a call about trouble at a concession stand in the lakefront park.
“Police received a call at around 1:30 in the morning that there was a break-and-enter in progress,” said Crown attorney Margaret Janzen. “They found a window was insecure.”
Janzen said police discovered Sklepowich looking around outside, and found the youth inside the concession stand. The total damage caused was about $380.
The court heard that Sklepowich has a learning disability and was enrolled in special education classes at school. Sklepowich was visiting Muskoka at the time of the incident.
In the end, Judge J.D. Evans placed Sklepowich on a 15-month probation period, and suspended the passing of a sentence.
