SEGUIN TWP. - The process of applying for grant money to renovate the Foley Agricultural Hall continues.
Seguin council on Monday approved a $425,000 phase two application to the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation’s (NOHFC) Infrastructure and Community Development Program.
The township proposes putting $1.28 million, including this $425,000 grant and a second one through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund, into the Foley Agricultural Hall to renovate it and incorporate a new municipal library and agricultural society office.
In order to apply for the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund, the municipality had to have ownership of the building.
Members of the Foley Agricultural Society voted to hand over ownership of the hall to the township on August 22.
In applying for upper government grants, the township refers to the hall as the Foley Multi-Purpose Resource, Technology and Drop-In Centre.
The recorded vote on the grant application was unanimously approved by council.
