Elderly Bala man pinned by scooter

Muskoka Lakes  firefighters, paramedics and police were called to help an elderly man pinned under his own scooter at a trail near the Bala Falls on April 18.
Muskoka Lakes fire chief Richard Hayes said emergency crews were dispatched as the man’s family became concerned when he didn’t return home. The man was later found off a track near Bala United Church.
“He had gone down the pathway on his electric scooter and ended up coming off the track; this led to him coming off the scooter,” he said. “He was about three to four feet off the track, with the scooter pressing on his leg.”
Hayes said the man’s mobility issues had further compounded his efforts to get back up. Once found, he was treated by paramedics for minor injuries.
