Vote for Parry Sound and area as the Ultimate Fishing Town

PARRY SOUND - Georgian Bay Country (GBC) needs help in its bid to have Parry Sound and surrounding area be known as the Ultimate Fishing Town.
The World Fishing Network is giving $25,000 to the town with the most votes, and Anna Marie Harris, manager of GBC.
“I think it’s a cool idea,” said Harris of the contest. “And when we nominated ourselves I said, ‘of course we have Georgian Bay, but we also have the many inland lakes’. So I don’t just mean Parry Sound, I mean the whole Parry Sound area - everywhere GBC covers.”
Now that Parry Sound has been nominated, Harris said the public needs to add additional content (comments, videos and pictures) to the World Fishing Network’s website and Facebook page to secure more votes.
“We need to fill up their Facebook (page) with stories and pictures and videos. The more information we can send out, the more of a chance we have,” she said. “The more activity on the Facebook the more exposure we have and, hopefully, the more votes.”
The $25,000 prize, Harris said, is a community donation. She said she’s not certain how or who would receive the money, but an organization that ensures the protection of area waterways would likely be the best fit.
“It would probably go to a fishing association or something like that,” she said. “I don’t know who it’s going to go to. We haven’t got that far, but we just want to nominated ourselves and if we win maybe we can divide it up between several organizations.”
The chance to submit a nomination ends April 30 and voting runs from May 1 to 31.
