HUNTSVILLE – With the purchase of West End Motors, Jason Armstrong has not only increased his business assets but also expanded his product.
Armstrong, the owner of the local Honda and Hyundai dealerships, added the Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, Jeep brands to his fleet on March 1.
“They make a great truck and it was a market we did not participate in,” said Armstrong, noting the brands have strengthened over the last couple of years. “It was a great opportunity for us.”
The Cox family owned West End Motors since 1958, when Ed Cox purchased the company from Seth Grimes. Over the years it transferred to Ted Cox and then Tim Cox in 1994.
Cox said when his family first purchased the company the brands were Chrysler, Plymouth and Fargo and the phone number was a mere two digits, 2-6.
“I’m excited for a change,” he said. “I’ve done it for 20 years and quite enjoyed it and enjoyed the customers and the staff, but it’s just time for a life change.”
He is confident he has put the company in good hands.
“I think Jason’s going to grow the business and prosper. He’s got two other successful car dealerships in town and personally I think he’ll do great with it,” said Cox.
Armstrong, who has been in the auto industry for 17 years, looks at diving into the truck market as a means to increase service for customers.
“It’s a big part of the Muskoka landscape and we have loyal customers and wanted to be able to service them in all required needs,” he said.
“We’re going to work hard to please all the existing customers with great service and selection.”
He said Armstrong Dodge, Ram, Chrysler, Jeep will offer a price guarantee on all new vehicles.
“We’ll guarantee you get the best price the first time and all the time,” he said. “Our slogan is ‘we’ll go farther so you don’t have to.’”
