Darts and euchre added to wings and jug night
Legion News Branch 117
We at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 117 would like at this time to wish everyone a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2013.
With the Legion being closed until January 2, it will give the staff an extended holiday to enjoy with family and friends
Beginning on January 11 we will be adding something new to the existing wings and jug night in the form of darts and/or euchre games
The wings and jug deal is $20, or just a pound of wings for $9 is still going on from 5 to 7 p.m. The game of your choice of darts or euchre will start thereafter. Remember the legion is open to the public and so are these games and wing nights. So why not come out & enjoy a night of fun?
I see in the North Star dated December 19 an article written by Stephannie Johnson about a wee lad named Noah and in this write up is a picture of Noah and his new found friend, a teddy bear. As you can see in the picture this teddy bear is wearing a blue t-shirt with “Royal Canadian Legion branch 117 Parry Sound “ written on it.
Our branch has been donating these teddy bears to the local paramedics for a number of years to help calm young patients and give them something to hold on to when they are frightened. Even older people can need some help such as this at times.
The bears are purchased from our Nevada fund, which in turn is sponsored by you, the public when you come into the branch and purchase Nevada tickets. The Nevada fund supports a number of activities within our community and without people like yourselves coming in from time to time and purchasing Nevada tickets, this fund does not hold up, and that only means that without this fund a lot of requests from the community have to be turned down.
If you wish to help the legion continue its sponsorship of local activities we would love to welcome you in, who knows you might even win, and at the same time help us help others.
Once again, our best wishes for 2013 and always.
