Christmas Tea, November 25
Pointe au Baril News
Hello Pointe au Baril. It’s been a great couple of weeks. Unfortunately, I don’t seem to have enough to put a column in every week, so help me out and send me your info.
The weather hasn’t been so bad lately. It was a beautiful day for the Remembrance Day Ceremony. It was positively balmy on the cliff.
Everyone is usually wind blown and absolutely frozen by the end of it. I could not be there myself this year, but Joan Emery told me the ceremony was lovely. She would like to thank all the volunteers that helped make the day happen. Lynne Barron did her usual wonderful job as the MC, Jim White took care of all the wreaths before and after, decorated the hall and ensured there was music. Lillian White made the delicious lunch again this year, thank you.
Lillian had a kitchen full of awesome helpers to assist her, Heather McLaren, Judy Cameron, Anne Kaster, Laura Fitz, Muriel McKee and Nina Madigan. Great job everyone. Joan’s personal thanks go out to the township for their support of this event every year.
I received an email about the Parry Sound Harvest Share. They have been selected as one of 100 food banks across Canada to be a part of Kraft Food for Families new campaign.
From now until December 31, you can add your name once a day, every day at the following website, http://www.kraftfoodforfamilies.ca/ for each name received; 50-cents will be donated to Harvest Share.
A total of $20,000 is available in each region. Once the $20,000 is reached, the food bank with the most names will receive a bonus donation of $5000. It’s a pretty simple thing to do to help so many. So get on your computers, which most of you are on every day, and add your name.
Belated birthday wishes to Kay Scale who turned what, 40 something on November 17, Lee Penfold who is just getting old, on November 18 and Neil Cameron on November 19.
It’s hard to believe that Christmas is just over a month away. I personally haven’t started my shopping, but I’m a December 24 kind of girl.
PABERT will unfortunately not be selling Christmas trees this year.
Don’t forget the Christmas Tea on Sunday, Nov. 25. It starts at 1 p.m. Hope to see everyone there.
Get well wishes going out to Phyllis Holl who is in the hospital. If you’re in town, stop by and visit if you can. I know she would appreciate it.
That’s all for now. Have a great week Pointe au Baril. email@example.com or 705-774-1726.
