Dunchurch Fall Fair kicks off Friday

The Dunchurch Fall fair is here, again and it all starts this Friday, August 17, at 7 p.m.

Come out and enjoy some fresh corn and refreshments, the junior and senior farmers Olympics, children’s tractor pull and live music by the Good Ole Boys. The Parade is Saturday and all floats must be registered by Wednesday, August 15, by calling Jane Bottrell at 705-389-2370. Categories are: best costume in various age categories; best original groupings 14 years and under and 15 years and over; and, best ‘Remembering the past, embracing the future’ float.

The gates open on Saturday at 10 a.m. and admission is free for children under 12.
There is lots to see and do, including a spinning demonstration, bee display, exhibits, senior and junior sports (including spike driving and log sawing), a local history display, craft concession, pony rides, bounce castle, live music, face painting, scarecrow building contest, fresh corn, refreshments and much more. Hope you all come out and have a good time!
The fair comes to a close on Saturday night with a dance in the community centre. There will be square dances and round dances. Admission is $3 and children under 12 are free.

Euchre results for Tuesday, Aug. 7, are as follows: First, Beverly Church with 74; second, Norma Johnson with 70; lone hands, Brenda Powis and Cliff Greenwood tied with four.
Cribbage results for Thursday, August 9, are as follows: First, Elizabeth Hamilton with 6 wins and 103 points; second, Paul Kenyon with 5 wins and 219 points; third, Phyllis Sands with 4 wins and 298 points.
Euchre results for Saturday, Aug. 11, are as follows: First, Beverly Church with 86; second, John Campbell with 66; lone hands, Autumn Shane and Dodie Stewart tied with four each.
Meat draw results for Saturday are as follows: Nancy Gordon – ground beef and chicken breast; Brenda Powis – smokies sausage and a beef roast; Max Church – pork chops; Marshall Sands – pork roast; Monica Mayne – ground beef; Joy Warnholtz – chicken legs; Norma Johnson – pea meal bacon; Beverly Church – strip loin steak. The next meat draw is Saturday, August 25, at 4 p.m. right after euchre.
Sympathies
The Legion members would like to extend their sincere sympathies to Comrade Wayne Heels with the passing of his long-time friend and companion Naida Reynolds and to their families. Naida was a great friend of the Legion, helping out when and where she could.
They will remember her.
