GRAVENHURST - There’s a new player at the table of Gravenhurst businesses as the Frosty Pint Pub officially opened its doors Aug. 2.
Located at 110 Ferguson Rd., beside Sanders Motors just off Bethune Drive’s north end, the pub and restaurant has been a long work in progress for its owners, Michelle and Bob O’Brien.
“The building’s been empty for years, it seems,” said Mayor Paisley Donaldson before snipping the ribbon. “A lot of work went into this place and it just looks great.”
The location had been a restaurant up until about 12 years ago and since then operated as a day-care centre for a brief period. It has otherwise sat empty, awaiting the new venture.
Bob O’Brien said the serious reconstruction began in February and “there’s still a few things to iron out.”
“We had to gut everything in here,” O’Brien said. “We started from scratch; there’s a whole new kitchen, ceiling, everything’s been redone.”
The business features a pub side with large, high-definition televisions, “probably the biggest TVs in town” and a separate dining area.
Michelle O’Brien described the fare as middle-ground.
“It’s fancier than pub fare but it’s not fancy dining; more modern and relaxing than that,” she said. They also boast two red-seal certified chefs on staff, she added.
The business actually had been operating for about a week before the official opening and so far Bob said it’s been received very well.
Frosty Pint Pub is open from 11 to 11 six days a week and from 11 to 7 Sundays. For more information, contact 705-687-4333.
