Fire in Port Sydney

PORT SYDNEY - Huntsville and Port Sydney fire crews with the assistance of water bombers from
the MNR have brought a bush fire under control. The fire was
similar to a large bush fire the Lake of Bays crews had to deal with over the weekend as both are believed to have started by lightning strikes that
occurred over a week ago. Crews planned to remain on scene until darkness set in and return in the morning to finish butting out hot spots.
Everyone is
reminded that a total fire ban is still in place for the District of Muskoka and
no open air burning or fireworks are permitted at this time.
MNR planes like this one have been aiding fire crews by dropping water on bush fires. See video of the plane at work in Port Sydney here.
