Last Wednesday the Whitestone and Area Horticulture Society welcomed guest speakers Al and Lesley Last who gave a talk on photography.
The presentation was very informative and members asked lots of questions.  It’s a great time of year to go out with your camera and take some shots of all the blooming and budding plant life and the many animals that have arrived for the season.  The next meeting is Wednesday, June 6 at 7 p.m. in the Dunchurch Community Centre and the talk will be on the various native plants found in our municipality.

Bid euchre results for Monday, April 30 are as follows:  First, Ken Woehl with 330; second, Jane Lockwood with 277; third, Norma Johnson with 276; and moonshots, Bob Lockwood, Gerry Schmidt, Jane Lockwood and Ken Woehl. Euchre results for Tuesday, May 1 are as follows:  First, Tina Greig with 80; second, Bill Greig with 69; and lone hands, Dodie Stewart.
Cribbage results for Thursday, May 3 are as follows:  First, Klaus Reinhardt with four wins and 31+6 points; second, Elizabeth Hamilton with four wins and 295 points; and third, Bob Crossman with four wins and 290 points.
Euchre results for Saturday, May 5 are as follows:  First, Bill Brillon with 74; second, Norma Johnson with 70; and lone hands, Marian Angus with three.
Meat draw results for Saturday, May 5 are as follows:  Heinz Ficken – ground beef; Simon and Gail Harris – chicken pieces; Phyllis Sands – picnic ham and sausage mix; Jerry Robson Sr. – peameal bacon; Dale Caldwell – ground beef; Terry Shadd – chicken wings; Joy Warnholtz – corned beef; Norma Johnson – pork chops; and Wally Gordon – T-bone steak.
The next meat draw is Saturday, May 19 at 4 p.m. right after euchre.
This Wednesday, May 9 in the Dunchurch Community Centre the Progressions of Life Series is presenting a talk on Nutritional Values.  The presentation starts at 7 p.m. and cost is $3 per person or $5 per couple and everyone is welcome to attend.
Remember that the Maple Island Thrift Store is open every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m.  They are located on Highway 520 in Maple Island.  Donations are welcome, for more information please contact Jenny at 705-389-1210 or Elizabeth at 705-389-2207.
