Hydrant flushing in MacTier starts Monday
The Service Ontario Office, located in MacTier for driver’s licenses, license plates etc, is closed from April 14 to May 2. The regular hours will resume on May 3.
The MacTier Public School Elementary Curling Team did very well at the All Ontario
Championships last weekend. They did not win the championship; however, out of four games played, they won three and lost one. Congratulations to Peter Cribbie, Danielle Kershener.
Eryn Riva, and Kayla Babcock - you did very well. Also, to the Parry Sound Curling Club and the town - you did a great job holding this function, congratulations.
The District of Muskoka has announced a hydrant flushing notice for residents in MacTier. This will take place from April 23 to June 8. This procedure helps remove accumulated rust from the mains and could result in discoloration of the water. Please, during this time check your water for rust prior to usage. For more details call 1-800-281-3483.
A Township of Georgian Bay Fire Department person will be at the MacTier Fire Hall on Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. This is for anyone wishing to obtain a fire permit in our township.
Sprouting and Cooking
Also, the Township of Georgian Bay will be holding a MacTier Sprouting and Cooking Event at the MacTier Community Centre on May 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. Pre-registration is required for purchase of materials. For full details about this call Jennifer Whiston at 1-800-567-0187, Ext 261.
For your records, the District of Muskoka Garbage and Recycling weekly pick-ups are every Wednesday in MacTier and start for the summer on May 9.
Also starting soon, green bins will commence in MacTier. Details will be mailed to you about this and bins will be ready by the end of April. Make sure you read the letter information about usage.
For MacTier Legion news, some interested people are trying to get youth baseball up and running for ages 9 to 11 years and 11 to 13 years.

A Crafty & Flea Market will be held by MacTier Figure Skating Club on Saturday, May 19 at the MacTier Arena from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. Craft vendors, garage sale vendors, a kid’s area, barbecue and bake sale, it’s $30 a table, call 705-375-2580 or 705-375-1647.
And finally, Earth Day is on Sunday, April 22, time to clean up the yards and get MacTier looking good. By the way, MacTier Public School students, sometime next week will be going around our streets doing their part picking up trash. Good education for them for the future.
