North America Cup coming to Gravenhurst

North America Cup coming to Gravenhurst. KRIS KING HITS THE ICE. Former NHL player Kris King, centre in maroon, and Rob Carleton, President of On the Pond, in grey, came out to welcome over 60 teams from all over Ontario and as far away as U.S.A. to the Boston Pizza Pond Hockey Tournament held Feb. 8-10, on Sunday, Feb. 10. GRAVENHURST - During the Boston Pizza Pond Hockey Tournament last weekend, former NHL player Kris King made a major announcement.
Along with Rob Carleton, president of On the Pond, King informed an enthusiastic crowd that Gravenhurst has been chosen to host the first annual Original Pond Hockey Classic in 2014.
The tournament is being dubbed the North America Cup and will feature two weekends of pond hockey play in seven divisions.
King further excited the fans by telling them that there will be an NHL alumni game played under the lights during next year’s tourney.
The Boston Pizza Pond Hockey tournment saw plenty of local action, but the hometown teams did not walk away with any hardware, as the day went to the Original Pond Gear team from Toronto.
