Gravenhurst student benefits from bursary

Gravenhurst student benefits from bursary.
GRAVENHURST - Gravenhurst’s Cody Kupferschmidt, a 2011 environmental engineering co-op student at the University of Guelph, was awarded the Charlie Esson Bursary Award and the next winner is being sought.
The award is one of the many programs of the Parry Sound-Muskoka Stewardship Network. It is named after a long-term member of the network who worked faithfully supporting environmental initiatives across the district.
This bursary provided assistance for the former Gravenhurst High School student to continue with the final years of his program that involved working across Canada in environmentally related fields in his co-op program.
The Charlie Esson Stewardship Bursary provides assistance in the amount of $1,000 and was established several years ago to aid students in post-secondary school education related to the natural sciences such as biology, forestry, environmental studies or related technologies in the field of wildlife, forestry and environmental engineering.
In order to qualify, an applicant must be a resident of Ontario in the geographic boundaries that encompass Parry Sound, Muskoka and Almaguin, an attendee or graduate of one of the six high schools located within those boundaries and demonstrate that they are enrolled at and attending a recognized college or university program in the stated disciplines.
The deadline for applications is June 30.
Further information and an application form for the bursary can be acquired from the following: Nicole Tuyten, c/o Ministry of Natural Resources, 1350 High Falls Rd., Bracebridge, ON, P1L 1W9; fax 705-645-8372; email nicole.tuyten@ontario.ca; or call Ken Veitch at 705-645- 5396, Bill Dickinson at 705-645-8369 or Anne Bossart, 705-774-9350.
