Fire damages Whitestone cottage

Fire damages Whitestone cottage. Whitestone firefighters and a Ontario Provincial Police officer inspect the aftermath of a fire that damaged a bedroom and bathroom in a seasonal residence in the Municipality of Whitestone, just south of Dunchurch, at the intersection of Canning Road and Bear’s Paw Road. Municipality of Whitestone firefighters, with the help of McKellar and Magnetawan firefighters, were able to put out the Friday evening fire in minutes, saving the building. No one was in the home at the time. Firefighters suspect the blaze started when snow on the roof of the building slid off, damaging the hydro connection to the building, according to Kathy Whitman, the Whitestone Fire Department’s fire prevention officer.
