Voice your opinion about prorogued Parliament

Over the past few weeks and through several prominent media outlets the political buzz word “prorogue” has been the constant topic of conversation of many political observers both here, locally and throughout Canada. The clearest definition of prorogue is a motion or process set forward by the Prime Minister that suspends Parliament due to various circumstances. In a matter of two years,
Parliament has been prorogued twice and, as a voter, it has left me with many questions about the effectiveness or even the relevance of why the Conservatives still insist on trying to make this minority government work in a manner than will appease us, the voters. If my memory serves me correctly, the first time our beleaguered Prime Minister and his, the Conservative government, prorogued Parliament it lead to a federal election, which, in my opinion, wasted taxpayers’ money and really it settled nothing because at the time before the election Stephen Harper had a minority government and the results of that election pretty much ran parallel to when Stephen Harper won his first minority government in 2006.
Now we move forward two years and again, Stephen Harper and his government decide to take it upon themselves to suspend Parliament and basically has told us, the people who put them in that position of authority and leadership, that they simply refuse to lead our country just because the heat of the partisanship battles has reached new levels due to incidents that purely were self-inflicted political injuries such as the Afghan mission debacle and our ballooning economic deficit, just to name a few.
Usually I am more elaborate and eloquent on my letters to the editor, this letter in particular is different because all the facts are right there in front of us in plain sight which, in turn, leaves no need of any explanation of my position on this issue.
In closing, I ask of you out there and those who are out there in the readership to sit down and think of this question, “Why do the people we elect think we would be naive enough to turn a blind eye and them get off scott free?”
To me, it disgusts greatly to know that people we elect in fair democratic elections are now either in hiding while they sit at home in their ridings and collect a pay cheque that comes out of our pockets, or they think my way or the highway is the solution to all the stresses.
Also, I urge you all out there to keep the pressure on your member of Parliament through more peaceful protests, writing letters to your MP, or even do what I am doing and write to your local media outlets and voice your opinions on this slap to the face of our democracy.
