To the Editor:
After reading Gordon Zulak’s (Jan. 21 Almaguin News, ‘Why cottagers shouldn’t get a vote: reader’) windy dissertation on the merits of taxation without representation – google “American revolution,” Gord – I have concluded that he feels the interests of property owners who are not full-time residents of a district are, by nature, contrary to his. Interesting.
Well, I have a proposition that I am confident will enjoy the support of the majority of my fellow part-time residents of the districts of East and West Parry Sound. If Mr. Zulak can persuade our respecting townships to rescind our property taxes, we will surrender our right to vote in their municipal elections.
