Wolves set free on New Year’s Eve

HALIBURTON - Who let the wolves out?
That’s the question police are asking after an apparent mischief at the Haliburton Forest and Wildlife Reserve. Police were called there at around 8 a.m. on New Year’s Day, after five wolves escaped from the compound into the surrounding forest. Police suspect the mischief occurred some time between 5 and 7 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.
Anyone with any information is urged to call the Haliburton Highlands OPP 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Tips can also be emailed to khcs.ca.
Police are reminding residents that Haliburton County is home to many species of wild animals that should not be approached.
If you see the wolves that you believe belong to the Haliburton Forest and Wildlife Reserve, please contact the reserve at 705-754-2198.
