Hoyas take MPS cross-country title

WE’RE NUMBER ONE:. The Huntsville High School cross-country team are the best in the region, winning the Muskoka Parry Sound championship last week in Parry Sound.
HUNTSVILLE - The late American news reporter and broadcaster Jessica Savitch said it best when she said “For every two minutes of glamour, there are eight hours of hard work.”
For the Huntsville High School cross-country team, the two minutes of glamour came on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at the Muskoka-Parry Sound championships in Parry Sound.
Huntsville won the meet overall, winning both the girls and the boys divisions.
“This is the best result ever at MPS – that I can recall,” said Catherine Smith, a lead coach of the team, along with her husband Pierre Mikhail.
While the whole team was exceptionally successful, a few students really laid tracks.
Shannon Marshall came first in the midget girls’ division, Mariah Smith finished second for the senior girls, Adam Lavigne and Justin Smith took first and second in the midget boys’s division and the senior boys came up with a perfect score of 10, courtesy of Josh Stevens, Ben Forstell, Austin Simonett, and Bryan Stone finishing first, second, third, and fourth, respectfully.
The team is seeing its hard work finally pay off and look forward to the Georgian Bay championships in Duntroon on Oct. 24.
