Muskoka artists celebrate autumn with Local Colours

THE MUSKOKAN - No one captures Muskoka’s most colourful season better than area artists. Inspiration abounds at this time of year with the brilliant reds, yellows, oranges and blues that dot Muskoka’s roadways and illuminate the forests.
In celebration of this phenomenon, local artists will gather on Oct. 13 for Muskoka Chautauqua’s Local Colours exhibition at the Bethune Memorial House in Gravenhurst.
Artists’ autumn-inspired works will be on display and for sale. Classical guitarist Peter Wainwright will provide beautiful musical interludes. There will also be a presentation and exhibits from Bethune House on the life and work of Dr. Norman Bethune. Celebrations will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until 3 p.m. Admission is free.
The fiery colours of fall and dipping temperatures also serve as a reminder of the coming winter. Muskoka Chautauqua is ready for the festive season, with planning underway for its annual Christmas Jam. This year the Christmas Jam will be held on Friday, Dec. 14 at the Rosseau, a JW Marriott Resort and Spa in Minett, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Local musicians will jam together, performing seasonal favourites. The evening will also feature the Rosseau Lake College Tone Chimes with conductor Sarah Lundy, head of performing arts at Rosseau Lake College.
All are welcome to attend and admission is free. Grandmothers to Grandmothers will have their eclectic wares and jewelry for sale in support of the Stephen Lewis Foundation.
