HUNTSVILLE - Huntsville High School sent a strong team of 38 runners to North Bay on Friday for the first race of the cross-country running season, the annual Barons meet.
The team had a great day with multiple top-10 finishes including Rachel Miller (seventh), Elora Austrup (eighth) and Aubrey Creasor (10th) for the midget girls and Adam Lavigne (first), Justin Smith (third) and Nathan Johnstone (four) for midget boys.  Representing the junior girls were Emily Hill (sixth), and Hannah Mikhail (seventh), and for the junior boys Dalton Boothby (sixth). Last to go were the senior girls and boys with top 10 finishes by Mariah Smith (second), Rachael King (third), Emily Jones (fifth) and Josh Stevens (second), Alex Griffiths (third) and Austin Simonette (fourth), respectively.
With good weather and high spirits, the day was a tremendous success.  The Hoyas returned with smiles and laughter.  Their next race is in Brampton and their energy is tangible.
