We have known his grandparents for most of a lifetime. We know they would want us to tell this story if it could help to keep other kids safe.
Jack was almost 15. He was full of life and full of promise. Last Sunday he was going down the street on his skateboard, helmet under his arm, on his way to the skateboard park in his town. He got going a bit too fast on the hill, something happened and he fell and hit his head. He was taken by air ambulance to Toronto Sick Children’s Hospital where he was put on life support. He passed away on Tuesday.
His gift of organs will give new life to at least four other people, but his younger brother, parents, grandparents and his many friends are devastated.
Skateboarding is great fun but it is safer, much, much safer when done in a well-designed skate park with your helmet securely fastened.
