Bringing the power, and the charity, to Muskoka

MUSKOKA SUN - It takes exceptional boats to still draw a crowd of onlookers in Muskoka, but an event on Aug. 11 had people lining up along the shoreline.
The Parade of Power performance boating charity event blazed through Muskoka and raised $17,000 for the nurse practitioners station in Port Carling. The event saw boats capable of speeds well over 100 miles per hour travelling across the Muskoka Lakes.
There were no visible signs of opposition to this year’s event, which in the past has generated controversy by residents who felt the boats were too loud and caused too big a wake.
David Grant, captain of the All In, a Nor-Tech Supercat 3600, said the community response they saw this year was very positive.
“People are always waving at us so we know the majority are happy,” Grant said. “They may be wooden boat guys, but they love to see something different for a change.”
