Support needed for Habitat for Humanity fundraiser

Huntsville Forester

MUSKOKA - Habitat for Humanity Muskoka is looking for a boost in local support for a fundraising event in early May.
Dubbed “Home Tweet Home,” the cocktail fundraiser is slated to take place at the Muskoka Bay Club in Gravenhurst on May 10 at 5:30 p.m. Part of the fundraiser involves local artists, who have been asked to create unique and artistic habitats for birds.
“A number of local artists from across the Muskoka area have taken plain birdhouses and created some pretty extraordinary works of art,” said Habitat for Humanity executive director Ellen Frood. “These will be up for auction, both silent and live, at the event.”
Though ticket sales have gotten off to a slow start so far, organizers are hoping locals will step up to help raise funds for the charity, to go toward building new homes for local families in need.
The event’s art auction will also feature a limited-edition piece by Muskoka artist Dale Durnan, and a donated piece of artwork from the family of former governor general Ed Schreyer.
For avid golfers, Frood said there are still a limited number of spaces available for rounds slated to take place in the afternoon prior to the event. Golfers can play 18 holes for the cost of $135 per person, and nine holes can be played for $75 per person. The prices include all taxes and the cost of a golf cart.
Tickets for Home Tweet Home are $60.
To purchase tickets or for more information, please contact Frood by email at ellen@habitatmuskoka.com, or by phone at 705-646-0106 ext. 6.
