MUSKOKA - Here’s your chance to express yourself and win some amazing prizes through the What’s Your Muskoka video contest, being hosted by Muskoka Tourism Marketing Agency (MTMA).
Grab your camera or smartphone and shoot up to a two-minute video about what Muskoka means to you.
There are four categories under which to submit your video — people, arts, environment or experience.
While there is only one entry per person, the sooner you enter your video the greater your chances of winning $100 in interim raffles.
If you’re intimidated by the idea of putting a video together, don’t be. Most smartphones and laptops, as well as iPads and cameras have filming capabilities.
And unless you’ve got expensive editing software, marketing director at Algonquin Outfitters Randy Mitson recommends YouTube.
“Anybody can use YouTube and it’s got quite a bit of control,” he says.
The beauty about YouTube is that when you upload the video and work on incorporating other elements such as music, YouTube will check on copyright and flag songs for which permission to use cannot be granted.
Check out youtube.com/editor. You may have to create an account or if you have an existing Gmail account, you’ll be able to use that information to log on.
The contest runs until Nov. 26, 2012.
“Muskoka Tourism is excited to be launching this video contest. We know there are a lot of creative people out there who are passionate about Muskoka,” said MTMA marketing manager Sheila Creighton.
There are more than $10,000 in prizes including gift certificates, a steamship cruise, golf passes, resort accommodations, trail rides and much more.
